Let me first say that this is going to be a long post, so go grab your cups of coffee now, get comfortable, and settle in. It’s totally worth it.
So when Tom contacted me to get involved with a suprise engagement session for his fiance, Marissa, I was all for it! How can I not get on board for a session that includes all the things that I love: an adoring fiance (well, actually, make that two!), things being built for girls (yes, totally adorable wait till you see it..), surprises (duh!), and above all else, lots and lots of love! Oh and watermelons! Sounds perfect to me, how about to you?
I want to talk forever about why I love everything about this session but I figured you probably want to see the pictures, so I’m going to skip right on to that!

Allow me to paint the picture for you. Marissa loves red doors. Marissa and Tom love picnics. They love thrift shopping. One day they went thrift store shopping and Tom remembered all the things Marissa said she liked, and went back and bought them. He planned a picnic for her, fit for a queen. He found a door and painted it red and made it just for her. He surprised her with an engagement session, a red door, all the trinkets from the thrift store, watermelons and other picnic fruit, and lots and lots of love! Clearly, I was beside myself. Toooooo stinkin’ cute.

Above, on the left is an old polaroid camera with her ring sitting in it. To the right is part of the door where he put a frame! Hellooooo, adorable!

Above, in a part of the door he hung flowers in the opening. Below, trinkets from thrifting!

Meet Marissa & Tom, totally in love!

She loved the door and all her surprises!
